The 1,200-acre Tassajara fire is reportedly only 10 percent contained this morning. (Sunday) Authorities have announced a mandatory evacuation for the Parrot Ranch area.

The Monterey CERT Team marched in the parade and hosted a emergency preparedness booth. We talked with folks from the Peninsula and Monterey County and as far away as China and Brazil. Thanks to all who participated.

For its quarterly drill, Monterey, PG, and Carmel CERT will practice using new equipment purchased for CERT containers. CERV of the Monterey Peninsula matched neighborhood efforts to raise money for 11 CERT containers. Training in the use of equipment by volunteer first responders is key to building community resilience.
