COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) When emergency services are over- whelmed, CERT trained members work together to reduce injuries and loss of life and protect property. Community preparedness will enhance the ability of individuals and neighbourhoods to minimize their emergency needs and to manage their existing resources until professional assistance becomes available. CERT members can serve their communities; capable of performing many of the emergency functions, in the immediate post-disaster period.
